About Nimble Drift

Our Story

Three generations of wildlife conservation, horsemanship, and a 3,000-hectare bushveld property in the heart of Hoedspruit, South Africa.

The Land

The property spans approximately 3,000 hectares of African bushveld in the heart of Hoedspruit, home to buffalo, wildebeest, giraffe, impala, leopard, hyena, and more. For conservation and security reasons, rhino numbers remain confidential.

Beyond these resident populations, the property is part of a dynamic natural ecosystem with smaller game species regularly moving through. There is something about experiencing all of this from horseback, at ground level, moving through the bush as part of it, that no game vehicle can replicate.

The Team

In addition to the family, Nimble Drift is supported by a skilled team who help bring the vision to life. This creates a unique environment where guests can learn from people with diverse skills and experiences.

The Horses

Nimble Drift

The first time I rode Drift, he bucked like a true bronco and sent me flying, bareback. Oddly enough, that was the moment I fell in love with him.

Drift is a 14-year-old registered American Quarter Horse with a striking buckskin coat. Calm, collected, sure-footed, and confident, he is a natural leader and a devoted protector, always watching over his herd. He embodies the qualities of Spirit: loyal, strong-willed, brave, and full of character.

Through countless hours building trust, Drift transformed into the horse everyone dreams of owning. More than a horse, he has been a partner, teacher, and friend. His loyalty, resilience, and protective nature continue to inspire the vision and values behind the Nimble Drift brand.

The Riding

The riding is for intermediate to experienced riders. If you can confidently walk, trot, and canter, you are in the right place. Trails are matched to the horses, the terrain, the weather, and the ability of the group.

The point is not speed for its own sake, but time spent in the bush with guides who carry the kind of knowledge about this land that only comes from living it.
